October is National Women's Small Business Month and we are extra excited to celebrate this year! As we approach our second anniversary of shipping STEM kits, we've been doing a lot of reflecting on the history of GIGIL.
GIGIL started in Long Beach, CA as an indoor playground for kids and a workspace for parents. GIGIL was created to provide a fun environment for kids to learn, play and grow! With classes, activities, and endless toys, there was a little something for everyone! This unique space also provided a break for working parents to get assistance with supervision and get work done at the same time. With separate workrooms, parents could still be close by. It was a win-win for everyone and something the community welcomed with open arms.
Like many other small businesses, COVID-19 made an impact on the way GIGIL operated, which resulted in having to close the plays pace. But when one door closes (literally), another door (or box) opens and GIGIL STEM Kits was born!
GIGIL Founder, Michelle Davis, is still determined to create an educational experience that is both fun and hands-on for kids and simple for parents. GIGIL pivoted to become a STEM subscription box that brings educational activities right to your door. To continue catering to busy parents, we include everything one would need to complete the activities. You literally just open and go!
GIGIL STEM Kits has continued to grow in popularity with busy parents and families within the homeschooling community and we couldn't be more thrilled! We are coming up on the second anniversary of the first box shipped and are thankful for all of the women in our small business that continue to help us grow!
This month, remember to celebrate women in business by purchasing from their online and local shops and by spreading the word through social media posts, referrals and positive reviews. Supporting a business goes beyond making a purchase!
GIGIL STEM subscription boxes come with 5 hands-on learning activities for kids aged PreK-5th grade. We offer 3, 4, 6, or 12-month subscriptions, with separate boxes with age-appropriate activities.
